[Thurnage Reform] Creation of working groups

Following the General Assembly of November 7th (slides available here and report to be published soon), the DG is asking for volunteers to develop the projects selected by the GA! Indeed, as shown by the votes, two proposals have been selected and need to be further investigated. For more details on the proposal to separate the ability to obtain a room («thurnabilité») from the choice of this room, you are invited to read a version (short or long) of the presentation slide in the shared work folder.

Various skills will be required (thinking about all the solutions to cheat, doing computer simulations, making nice diagrams and communication, etc.), so any motivated person is welcome! If you are interested, please send us an email before Thursday so we can organize the rest with you! This can represent a one-time work investment for one month, or a longer investment until the reform referendum, depending on your wishes and availability. What we would need for next month is :

  1. Simulations on the variations of the "DG units".
  2. Choose how the jokers would be assigned
  3. Clarify the establishment of the «thurnabilité» ranking, taking care to balance fairness, simplicity of the system and respect for its general principles.
  4. Define the possible betting choices for UDGs
  5. Refine the modalities of the transition
  6. Think about how to move to 4J without a CST joker (transition, strategy, impact on ranking, housing guarantees, etc.).

Moreover, if you are interested in the DG in a more global way, for this year or the following years, we invite you to join us on Wednesday November 11th¹ at 12:30 pm on GoToMeeting to exchange with us and discover a little more about what the work of a dégée·e represents! Whether you want to be a candidate this year or are simply curious, everyone is welcome!

¹: yes yes, November 11th... You don't have class, right ? :D

Gap year statistics

We would like to thank the General Services Department for providing us with data on student gap years to feed our reflection on the Thurnage and the diversity of schooling.

These figures are available in the DG's archives on degette.

The hisory of the DG

The time seems too long in this first weekend of confinement in November? It's too cold to go outside and you don't have a stock of books on hand yet? The DG has the solution! We offer you an exclusive look back at the history of the TG in the students' wiki! https://wiki.eleves.ens.fr/associatif/dg/historique-de-la-dg-et-des-logements-lecole/ (in french)

On the menu: the history of Thurnage (and yes, the Jokers system is not that old!. Let's hope it will feed the debate for the GA!), the students' housing, and even the mythical episode of the Yellow Corridor!

Of course, like all public articles in the wiki, this article is collaborative and we offer here a first version!

[Thurnage Reform] General Assembly of the 7th November

The time has come! The Délégation Générale is calling a General Assembly¹ to discuss the Thurnage reform! We plan lively debates to find the best possible system :

  1. Presentation of the problems linked to the Thurnage
  2. Specifications
    1. What are the objectives?
    2. With what criteria?
  3. Proposals received by the DG (subparts subject to change)
    1. Variations around the current system
    2. Finding inspiration in the BdA's random draw system
    3. Separation of the capacity to be accommodated from the choice of thurne
    4. Miscellaneous

4. Sorting of proposals

In order to cope with the exceptional health situation and still allow for face-to-face discussions, the Assembly will be held on Saturday, November 7 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Jourdan amphitheater (48, boulevard Jourdan 75014 Paris), as well as remotely on GoToMeeting https://gotomeet.me/DélégationGénérale .

In the meantime, do not hesitate to come and discuss the proposals under consideration on Merle! https://merle.eleves.ens.fr/dg/channels/reforme-thurnage.
