This message is addressed to all individuals who will join Ulm in September 2026.
First of all, Congratulations! We look forward to meeting you all, enjoy this summer, the cicadas, and life.
Yay, but who are we? We are the Délegation Génerale - The Student-led Committee (DG); the students responsible for managing all logistical matters that do not fall under the Directorate of the Normal School, such as, and most importantly for you at the moment, the allocation of dormitories.
If you are admitted to the Diploma of the Normal School [DENS] (virtually everyone, except those specifically admitted for a Master's degree (i.e., those who are doing a Master's without the DENS, of course, if you are doing the DENS, you are likely also doing a Master's within it)), as a student-employee, a Normal School student, or an international selection participant, you are entitled to accommodation in the Normal School dormitory for the first year (a.k.a. the CONSCRITUD!, yes, CONSCRITUD!!! (yehaaaa) (which is super cool because as a conscript, you can meet Tiphaine de Gésincourt, and you will see, it's crazy.)) upon simple request. You have received or will receive a short questionnaire asking if you want a dormitory room, and if so, you will have one. (It's unnecessary to write to us if you haven't received it yet, you will receive the questionnaire, be patient <3)
For the conscripts (first year), the dorm is located on the Jourdan campus for the 5% of you who are lucky enough to have it, which is a lovely 12m2 room just 25 minutes from the Ulm campus. For the other 95% who will have the authentic Normal School experience, it will be on the Ulm campus, at 45 Rue d'Ulm, or on the sidewalk across the street, in the Annex. There is a kitchen on each floor, with floors ranging from 12 to 30, almost all the conscripts, like you. Everyone won't speak French, and everyone will want to get to know each other, and these will be friends for your entire schooling, don't be afraid of dormitory life!
The rooms contain a single bed, a desk, a sink, a chair, and cupboards. Please bring a trash can, bedding, pillows, and blankets. The move-in will likely be between September 2nd and 5th, at an hour that will be emailed to you late in the summer (we are really trying), along with your room number. Allocation is random, unless compelling reasons otherwise.
If, in your opinion, medical reasons require a change in your room allocation, please contact the Health Center at pole [dot] sante [at] ens [dot] psl [dot] eu.
The monthly rent is €465, or €315 for CROUS bursary holders. The administration will contact you in due course about these matters, and when it comes to providing your bank details, the Administration will not forget anyone.
We have probably not answered all your questions in this article. It's sad, it's life, too bad.

You can also email us, but only if you have exhausted all other options, or for personal, important questions that concern us. If we don't reply, it's probably because it was written somewhere, if really not, we might have forgotten you, contact us again (politely, not after two days - we are on vacation too).
