Resignation of Antoine Rumeau and election of a replacement

Due to an overload of work during the year of preparation for the agrégation, Antoine Rumeau resigned on 02/01/2024, with effect from 31/01/2024. We want to thank him here for all the work accomplished during his two mandates, especially the brilliant 2022 yearly room allocation, which he led, and wish him the best for his competitive exam.

We will therefore organise elections to replace him, on January 29 and 30, with entry into office on 01/02/2024. It will be a multi-member, one-round ballot with assent to all the candidates. A seat is at stake. In the event of a tie between the first candidates, a second round will be organised between the latter. The vote will take place online exclusively, on the Kadenios platform, via a link that we will send by email on 28/01/2024.

The candidates currently running for the upcoming election are:

  • Esteban Geoffray (L2021) : manifesto (in French only)

Applications must reach us no later than 01/24/2024 inclusive, by email, accompanied by a manifesto in PDF format. Only normaliens students can apply.

We will also organise, on 15/01/2024, an ordinary GA to present the candidates. It will take place from 8pm in the Jean Cavaillès room.

The agenda for this GA is as follows:

  1. Presentation of candidates;
  2. Minor clarifications to the Appendix for room allocation;
  3. Introduction of guarantees regarding the random drawing of the words conditioning the hash key;
  4. Mandatory use of ENS internal IT tools in communications via the tous@clipper list;
  5. Transfer of sysadmin role to the DGNum and creation of the role of DG Developer and the corresponding Appendix. You can consult here the project of new Appendix (in French only).

Abuse of power in moderation of collective e-mail

At the end of 2022, someone who also happened to be a moderator sent an email to the sciences@clipper list relaying an internship offer. Despite the denials of the moderator in question, investigations by another moderator established that the e-mail had been moderated by the person who had sent it. When the DG asked the moderator to explain his actions, he preferred to resign rather than justify himself. He is therefore no longer in post.

The purpose of this memo is not to denounce an individual, but rather a form of behaviour, and to prevent similar acts from being repeated in the moderation team in future years. In particular, we would like to remind you of the following rules:

  • A moderator must never moderate an email that he or she has personally sent.
  • E-mails sent to lists with a large audience may only be on subjects directly related to the ENS: administrative information, cultural life and associations, presentation of initiatives. The administration has wider distribution rights than the students.
  • Moderators must be transparent and honest with the DG, which is itself collectively accountable to the students.

We will do everything in our power to ensure that moderation is more transparent and that all senders of emails are treated equally in terms of the rules we put to the vote at our GAs.

Your dedicated DG
