Appendix for « quiet corridors »

For the 2025-2026 year, the quiet corridors are Annexe 5 and H2-2 (Jourdan)

NB: Only the French version of this charter is authentic.

I - General principles governing the functioning of quiet corridors

Article 1

Quiet corridors shall be chosen by the Délégation Générale (DG) after applications have been made by the future first year students (hypoconscrits) for the said corridors. They are chosen in such a way as not to favour candidates/non-candidates in their access to accommodation on the Panthéon campus: if the DG chooses to set up only one quiet corridor, its position is drawn by lot and if the DG chooses to set up more than one, they are distributed equitably between the different campuses.

Article 2

The entry of hypoconscrits into the quiet corridor is based on their application only. During the summer of their integration, the DG must therefore ask all the hypoconscripts whether they wish to integrate such a corridor, informing them of the consequences of such a choice. Once the choice of the location of the quiet corridors has been made, the « quiet » application is linked to the right of access: it is no longer possible for hypoconscrits to ask to enter or leave the quiet corridor before entering the boarding school.

Article 3

Candidates for the quiet corridor must send the DG, between their application and their entry into the boarding school, a declaration on their honour undertaking to have read and to respect the present appendix; in addition to respecting this Appendix, they must strictly respect the Boarding School Charter, as specified in Article 4. In case of non-compliance with this Appendix, the DG may decide, at its sole discretion, to move one of its members from the quiet corridor to another corridor, possibly on another campus.

II - Rules applying to residents of quiet corridors

Article 4: Respect of the Boarding School Charter

The Boarding School Charter applies to all the corridors of the boarding school. The DG, in collaboration with the Office of Student affairs (Direction de la Vie Étudiante), ensures that it is respected. Particular vigilance and intransigence will be exercised by the security agents and the elected representatives of the DG, on all transgressions of this charter carried out within the quiet corridors.

Article 5: on the curfew

Every night, from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m., it is forbidden to make noise in one's room, to stand in the corridors and to use the kitchen. It is also forbidden, except in exceptional circumstances, to use the showers. It is nevertheless allowed, as in the whole boarding school, to enter or leave one's room, but only to leave the corridor completely or to go to the toilets, and making as little noise as possible; the persons concerned must in particular make sure that no door slams.

Article 6: on « standby » hours

Between 10pm and 11pm on weekdays, it is requested to be able to respect the 11pm curfew: it is necessary to ensure that the use of the kitchen and the use of the showers are such that it will be possible to leave these rooms at the curfew time. In addition, it is also requested that during this time period, discussions in the corridors should only take place in whispers and that the number of people present in the kitchen at any one time should be limited to 10.

Article 7: on quiet hours

During the rest of the day, residents and guests must respect the rules to limit noise in the boarding houses: no shouting in the corridors, no moving of tables or chairs, no slamming of doors, no playing of musical instruments in the rooms.

Article 8: on guests

As far as possible, it is requested to limit the number of guests from the other corridors of the boarding school, either in the rooms or in the kitchens. It is better for the inhabitants of the quiet corridor to move to other corridors than to welcome inhabitants of other corridors into the quiet corridor.

External guests are under the responsibility of the person who invited them, and residents are asked to inform them of the specific rules governing the operation of the quiet corridor.

III - Entering or leaving a quiet corridor

Article 9

To leave a quiet corridor, an e-mail motivating the request must be sent to the DG. The DG is under no obligation to comply with the request.

Article 10

At the time of each Monthly Room Allocation (Thurnage Partiel, TP), the DG shall specify in its e-mail whether rooms are available in the so-called quiet corridors. These rooms are accessible to conscripts in priority, but not exclusively. Entrants will have to send a signed attestation under the same conditions as those stipulated in article 3. It is also possible to send an e-mail to the DG to be informed of upcoming or possible exits from the quiet corridor, or possibly to make an exchange with a member of the corridor. Exchanges take place during a TP and are governed by article 44 of the Thurnage Appendix.

IV - Rules applying to other users of the dormitories

Article 11

Boarding school users, whether or not they are boarders, must try not to cross the quiet corridors and not to use the kitchens of the quiet corridors unless they absolutely have to. Under no circumstances are they allowed to make noise in these areas.
