The Délégation Générale allows ENS students to leave their things in the long-term storage room. The conditions for use are outlined in this appendix of the Internal Regulations (IR) of the DG.
Only persons currently enrolled as students at the ENS may leave their possessions in the long-term storage room.
Possessions left in the long-term storage room must be stored in a closed metal trunk - no other form of storage is allowed. However, items of furniture that are in a good condition and packaged mattresses are permitted from June, 1st to October, 1st, or throughout the rest of the year if the DG have given special permission.
Students wishing to use the long-term storage room must fill out the form available on the DG website at least one working day before the date they wish to deposit their possessions. Permission to access to the long-term storage room is dependent on the DG, and is only granted for the rooms mentionned in the form, for a maximum period of 2 weeks. The DG will decide whether or not to grant permission as quickly as possible.
Each trunk, mattress or item of furniture must have a clear, visible label that includes the following information:
Labels must be stuck firmly on multiple sides of the trunk, with another label attached to the inside. Trunks should be placed somewhere secure, where they will not block the way of others trying to access the room. The collection date should be no more than a year after the date of deposit.
All objects placed in the long-term storage room are the sole responsibility of the owner. We recommend that all owners take out a comprehensive insurance policy to cover any possible damage that could occur to their possessions. The DG will not take responsibility for any damage or theft.
The DG may lend a trunk to a student for up to a year - this period can be extended, subject to the number of trunks available. Only students (as defined by Article 3 of the IR) can borrow a DG trunk. Students must notify the DG in advance if they intend to move this trunk to a new location.
An object is said to be in breach of the regulations if it does not conform to Articles 2, 3 and 5, or if the collection date is more than a year before the current date. If the DG attempts to contact someone, and their phone number and email address are found to be invalid, the DG deems that it is no longer possible to contact this person and their possessions are in breach of the regulations.
The DG reserves the right to inspect the long-term storage room at any time, in order to check whether any possessions are in breach of the regulations. The DG should announce any inspection at least two weeks in advance by sending a group email to the student body.
The DG may remove any object found to be in breach of the regulations from the long-term storage room. They must give the owner two weeks notice, both by email and either text message or a phone call. Furthermore, if an object has been in breach of the regulations for more than four years, or if there is no identifiable owner, the DG may remove it from the long-term storage room without giving prior notice.
It is strictly forbidden to take a trunk or to change its label without the permission of the owner - this includes any trunk that the DG has loaned out to another student.
Any person who continues to violate the regulations after several warnings may be forbidden from using the long-term storage room. The duration of the ban will be determined by the DG.
